How to choose the right curtains for your hospitality project?

Draperies & curtains are a crucial part of furnishing in any hotel. There are special décor requirements when it comes to window furnishings for hotels and resorts. Naturally, window curtains should match the room's upholstery to give everything a uniform look. In hospitality interior projects, the design aesthetics and the window covering’s performance are equally required, as curtains should provide adequate protection against heat and sun rays.

When decorating a hotel room, one of the key factors to take into consideration is how to create the right window dressing that matches the room theme, including the style of the room’s furniture and wallpaper designs. Should you opt for plain curtains? Or would a patterned pair be a better solution?

In this post, we will go through the various elements that interior designers and hotel owners should consider for window’s décor to ensure they will have the best finishes.

  • Formal or Casual

If you choose a formal interior in your hotel, then definitely you will need to install heavier curtains, while a casual interior design requires transparent drapes with lighter fabrics.

  • Room Darkening

You will need to provide your guests with comfort while they sleep. That is where blackout draperies are necessary. Made from heavy opaque fabrics, blackout curtains are designed to block out sunlight and create privacy.

  • Flame Retardant Drapes

To maximize safety, hotel rooms are required to have flame-retardant soft furnishings and fabrics should be certified to these required standards. Flame retardant and fire-retardant curtains are available in a wide array of colours and fabric options, including blackout, dimout, sheers, voiles, prints and more.

  • Design & Colours

Most hotels prefer to use plain drape and add colours to the room using accessories, cushions, and wallpaper. Modern grey colours with some chevron patterns used in the cushions cover or the throw blankets are extremely popular in hotel interiors.
